Noise and Vibration Laminated Damped Metals:
There are a number of names for sandwich metals but these are simply a sandwich of 2 layers of metal with a Viscoelastic polymer between. The polymer is normally as thin as possible and hence it is often difficult to see that it is there at all but the metal is “Dead” to vibrations and can be used to make parts that perform better when exposed to noise & vibration. As with CLD’s there are many combinations of metals and metal thicknesses and it is even possible to use different metals for either side of the sandwich. Typical examples are:-
Product 2241 – 1mm thick galvanised steel used for structures such as acoustic/fire doors.
Product 2165 – 1.6mm thick stainless steel used for chutes and hoppers that rattle e.g. Coin counting machines.
Product 22424 – 2.5mm thick galvanised steel used for very heavy structures such as building floors.
We also manufacture a wide range of bespoke retrofit vibration dampers which can be easily designed to fit your existing products. These can be found here in our Vibration Dampers secion.
